Korea has actively participated in bilateral or multilateral cooperative projects to promote e-Trade. It is Korea’s goal to advance the achievement of global e-Trade by engaging in a variety of international collaborations and public-private joint projects designed to promote e-Trade.

  • APEC e-Commerce Steering Group Activities
  • The APEC ECSG was created to exchange e-Trade information and carry out cooperative projects between regional member economies. Korea's delegation consists of government agencies and trade-related institutions such as the Ministry of Knowledge Economy, the Korea Customs Office, the Korea International Trade Association, and KTNET. More specifically, the delegation has set and implemented individual action plans to promote e-Trade, introduced best practices and experiences and provided relevant assistance to other countries. Furthermore, it has held and supported a variety of symposiums designed to promote e-Trade in the APEC member states under the sponsorship of the APEC.

  • Bilateral Public / Private e-Trade Projects
  • Korea has actively joined forces with both public and private sectors in other countries, such as major trading partners and global e-Trade partners, in order to identify the global e-Trade needs and come up with solution in the area of trade, logistics and finance. It has worked with China, Japan, Taiwan, Thailand, and Vietnam to form a public-private cooperation council for e-Trade and hold meetings to build e-Trade capacity.
  • Implementation of Pilot Project for International e-Trade
  • Korea has launched a number of e-Trade pilot projects in diverse fields to experiment with advanced technologies and services at home and abroad. The main projects include the ‘Taiwan-Korea Bilateral E-C/O Collaboration Project', recognized as the official project by APEC ECSG and ‘the China-Korea Bilateral E-Negotiation Project’, which seeks ways to link bilateral e-Trade services.
